Latest TSA Security Directives
Air travelers may now carry liquids, gels and aerosols in their carry-on bag when going through security checkpoints.
With certain exceptions for prescription and over-the-counter medicines, baby formula and breast milk, and other essential liquids, gels, and aerosols, the following rules apply to all liquids, gels, and aerosols you want to carry through a security checkpoint.
3–1–1 for carry-ons
- 3 ounce bottle or less
- 1 quart-sized, clear, plastic, zip-top bag
- 1 bag per passenger placed in screening bin.
One-quart bag per person limits the total liquid volume each traveler can bring. 3 oz. container size is a security measur
Come early and be patient. Heavy travel volumes and the enhanced security process may mean longer lines at security checkpoints.
Updates to the TSA Security Requirements(effective November 10, 2006): Latest security bans according to the TSA Security Directives Summary of Security Directive Changes for Flights departing from and within the U.S.
- Effective November 10, 2006, the TSA has advised that travelers may now carry through security checkpoints travel-size toiletries (3.4 ounces/100 ml or less) that fit comfortably in ONE, QUART-SIZE, clear plastic re-sealable bag. At the security checkpoint passengers will be asked to remove the clear plastic re-sealable bag from their accessible baggage and place it in a separate bin or on the conveyor belt for screening. X-raying these items separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items. In addition, prescription liquid, gel and aerosol medications, baby formula/milk/food, and diabetic glucose treatments must be declared at the checkpoint for additional screening if they are not included in the ONE QUART clear plastic re-sealable bag.
- Passengers who attempt to bring undeclared liquids, gels, or aerosols into the sterile area without providing to the TSA for separate screening may be subjected to secondary screening.
- Passengers who purchase liquids, gels, and/or aerosols in the sterile area are now allowed to take them onboard the aircraft.
- Duty Free liquids, gels, and/or aerosols purchased inside the sterile area may be brought onboard the aircraft by passengers, and no longer must be delivered to the aircraft.

What time does immigrations close? What happens if a flight comes in late?
During a recent security check of baggage at LAX X Ray machine No.2 (10 pm 18 Jun 08) we witnessed one of your officals taking money to advance passengers baggage to the front of the line.
If he is willing to accept money to do this in full view of the ever increasing and chaotic line of airline passengers, then he could take money to do anything with luggage.
At one end of the country you finger print and photograph passengers , but at this end you throw all the rules out the window and openly take money.
You should check this area out as it is of some concern and a possible security risk!!
I want to purchase a round trip ticket from SAN to OKC that has a layover in LAX. Can I just board in LAX and skip the flight from SAN to LAX if it is more convenient for me.
i am arriving 24th july 08 7am from australia could you please tell me how long to clear customs so i can book flight to las vegas i will have carry on baggage only thanks
I was wondering if I can take a dozen cupcakes on the plane with me as a carry on if they are boxed? I keep getting different answers and not sure what to do.
I am a US citizen and a person of color. I was questioned by three different people and was allowed to exit. I was about to exit and was humiliated by a LAX employee for traveling abroad. He sent me back to the same officer that had questioned me. I cannot believe the rudeness. I am perfectly fine with questions and checking my bags, however, the rudeness is unacceptable.
How much can i take on the plane not as a carry-on? me and my son are go to NY from the LAX Tomorrow at 7am and what time do yiu think we should get there. I want to only take one suitcase for me and him would that be okay.
thank you
:-)

I took the flight,CI 005,which belongs to China Airlines from L.A. to Taiwan, Taipei at 1:50 pm on Dec. 27. One of my luggages was unlocked. When I got back home and opened up the unlocked luggage, I found out that the Tiffany bracelet was stolen. The bracelet, which is a wedding gift for my sister, means a lot to my sister and me. If someone can help me to find it back, I will appreciate that!!!
Dear Hsiao-Chuan,
first thing, don't put a braclet in your locked or unlocked baggage. Wear it or put it in your pocket to carry on.Anyway, if your luggage is locked and the TSA want to take a look, they will break the lock. They will break in your property.
Second thing, don't support the US with their arrogance, means don't visit the US anymore. Just forget the paranoid US. There are much better places in the world. Go to Europe!
